The Noisy Silence ….

Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die.”
- Amelia Burr

It is really amazing how technology have changed our lifestyle, our modes, social structure ….and eventually our “life”. Friends don’t get me wrong I am in very support of technology as everybody of us; after all it is also a creative bent of human mind.

I just want to ask a very simple question, as I asked myself:

How often we have spent time ONLY with oneself? With nobody but serene nature?
When did we last hear the black bird chattering at the peak of its voice? When did you last get out with your fishing equipments?

My answer to myself was; when I was 5 years old.

I wondered may be sometime a life without cell phone would be peaceful …and soon my cell started ringing ….. Call from my parents!
So what can be the solution to an important cell phone?

I permanently turned it to vibrating mode. I felt sometime I can resist attending all calls...
I have started communicating with my friends and parents who stays away from me in a very old system or traditional as preferable……

Writing letter in post card!!!! it was funny as I started writing ,specially when I made lots of mistake while writing a simple letter to my friend …….but at the end I was happy to write (not type ) . I felt it was something which my heart narrated and I truly expressed.

I generally put on my headphones when I feel the ambience chaotic …..But then I realized sometime it is equally enjoyable to hear all the “noise” and laughter around you…. hear other people speak, to see how they rejoice, how they express….

Incidentally to listen, feel and enjoy these varieties of environment, it is necessary to be silent. For me silence is not noiseless atmosphere but I define it as a state of mind which enables us to connect with the outside world completely!!!

I feel we can hear more, see more and learn more when we are silent from inside. For example while meditating …I hear lots of sound (even a burning oven in my neighborhood attract my attention) why? Coz I am super silent from inside (well people would call it distraction while meditating …..But is it not widening of senses?)

So I have a request to all of you. See everything you can see right from the new leaf of your garden to the new attendant in your workplace…..
Feel every inch of existence …… relish every taste that your taste buds can afford and to do this only requirement is Love the life ……….

What say?
keep exploring ......

only two kinds of people 'Live' their lives. Those who are yet to get started with the material things, and those who have grown above them! the Children, and the Old.. i.e.

The rest of us can only 'Wish' or, 'Claim'. [:)]

...ever tried your hand in writing stories. ?? [:)]

This is beautifully written. I have the TV on, why, I wonder, after reading your post so I turned it off and listened to the washer, doing a job I don't want to do by hand and could hear my husband, upstairs, unloading the dishwasher. I don't ask him to do it, he just does, because he knows I hate to. Clink, clink of the dishes and silverware means I love you.

One day as I was packing my Ipod in my pocket before leaving for office as I do everyday, my room mate asked me why do I not plug it to my ear and listen on the way?

I remember I had given a rather stange funny reply. I had said "There is so much noise in the road to hear".

Well I realised today I am not the only crazy one who loves to listen to the chaos of early mornning traffic.

Thanx for the post.

By the way, do they still sell Post Cards? ;)

hello, thanks for dropping by my blog. i really liked this post, its sometimes necessary to just sit alone & listen to the rain rather than the blaring music on headphones or the mechanical cackle of voices on the phone. makes one realize the value of all these precious things nature has given us.

People today have too much mechanical invention around so we forget more important things, without those things we maybe find valuable life. Someone's idea.. go back to old times and try to do by hand or walk slowly not using motor.

Wow!! What a beautiful post!!
You have put down some really lovely thoughts here...

Everything has its pros n cons..So does technology..It has given us some amazing benefits to reach out to the world in a faster n simpler way. But on the other hand, all of us have become so dependent n addicted to these stupid pieces of machinery..that we find ourselves with little time to enjoy the little beautiful things in life..

Even I feel there's excess of unnecessary noise all around us..that it becomes difficult to be in sync with the world within us & around us..
I always appreciate the beauty of flowers..n the melody of birds..n the soothing silence..Guess I should do it more often.. :)

I have blogrolled you.. You have a beautiful thought process.. :)

The balance between technology and mother nature is exactly like love I think. You give and take, push and pull, hurt and mend.

:) I like canned foods too.

well... i hate to disagree with the post but i do... first off i have never felt the need to shut off the world with headphones... and i have never felt that i dont spend time with myself....i do... whenever i want to.. i feel that different people have different ways of being with themselves.. for someone it actually may be that ipod that helps them to disconnect and think about so many things.. for me its looking out the window of my car on my way to work (ofcourse i am not driving..)

its very subjective.... technology has made things possible that were not before... i wont be in love with the wonderful man that i am with if it hadnt been for technology... how would i have managed a relationship over 800 kms without a phone...i am not in touch with myself when i am not in touch with him.. so for me shutting out means switching on....

Wonderful post again - I was thinking back to when I was a child and life seemed simple - we loved to be by ourselves and play, and write, and read...

Now with the world of technology, we are starving to get back to that peace. Love your thoughts!
